Wisdom teeth – the third molars at the very back of the mouth often need to be removed when there isn’t enough room for them to grow in properly. If you’re researching wisdom tooth extraction in Cebu, here’s a plain-English breakdown of what affects the price and what the process actually involves.
What Affects the Price
Cost usually depends on how the tooth is positioned. A simple extraction, where the tooth has fully erupted and is easy to access, is generally less involved than a surgical extraction for a tooth that’s impacted (still under the gum or angled sideways). X-rays are typically needed beforehand to check the tooth’s position relative to nerves and nearby teeth.
Signs You May Need One Removed
- Persistent pain or swelling at the back of the jaw
- Difficulty opening your mouth fully
- Repeated gum infection around a partially erupted tooth
- Crowding or pressure affecting nearby teeth
What Happens During the Procedure
Your dentist will numb the area with local anesthesia, so the procedure itself shouldn’t be painful – you may feel some pressure. Simple extractions are often finished within 15–20 minutes; surgical cases can take longer. Most patients go home the same day.
Recovery and Aftercare
Mild swelling and discomfort for 2–3 days is normal. Sticking to soft foods, avoiding straws, and following your dentist’s cleaning instructions will help you heal faster and lower the risk of complications like dry socket.
